custom engine valves
Woods Engineering designs and manufactures custom engine valves, drawing on decades of specialist valve, engine and cylinder head experience.
Valve profiles, dimensions and specifications can be developed for each engine, combining engineering knowledge with precision manufacturing to achieve the right fit and performance.
Valves are typically manufactured from single-piece 21-4N premium stainless steel forgings, with various stem sizes and alternative materials available depending on the application.
We take pride in producing Australia's highest quality custom engine valves.
APPLICATIONS
Custom engine valves are suited to a wide range of applications, including:
Competition racing
High-performance engines
Vintage and veteran engines
Stationary engines
Agricultural engines
Historic aircraft
CUSTOMISation
Key valve dimensions and features can be customised, including:
Valve length
Margin thickness
Valve head diameter
Dishing
Valve stem undercutting
Tip length
Profile optimisation
Dimensions are subject to the available valve blank and the requirements of the application.
Additional processes, including hard tipping and Tufftriding, are available to further improve valve durability and performance.
Other materials, including titanium and Inconel, can also be accommodated where a suitable existing valve is available for modification.
EXISTING VALVE MODIFICATION
Existing off-the-shelf valves can be modified to suit specific engine requirements, providing an alternative where manufacturing a new custom valve isn't necessary.
Modifications can include changes to valve length, head size, collet groove position, profiling and dishing. Where a suitable valve isn't already available, we can determine whether another valve can be used as the basis for the required specification.
