Yes. Woods Engineering specialises in one-off and small-batch work, including custom engine valves, valve train components and general engineering.

Woods Engineering valves are typically manufactured from 21-4N stainless steel, a premium valve steel chosen for its strength, high-temperature performance, oxidation resistance and durability.

Each valve is manufactured as a one-piece component, providing excellent structural integrity and consistency.

In most cases, existing valves can be modified within certain parameters. Modifications can improve or alter flow characteristics and allow changes to better suit the valve and cylinder head combination.

Tufftriding is a heat treatment that increases the surface hardness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance of metals. It improves durability and fatigue strength and can provide an alternative to hard chrome plating.

Where appropriate, Patrick recommends Tufftriding as an optimal treatment for improving the durability and performance of engine valves.

We are happy to work from either a sample or a drawing. A sample is usually preferred, as it allows Patrick to confirm the dimensions directly. If you are confident measuring accurately, you are welcome to provide a drawing instead.

If you don't have access to accurate measuring equipment, simply send a sample and Patrick can confirm the dimensions.

If you are in the Melbourne metropolitan area, you can arrange a time to drop off samples. Alternatively, samples can be posted or couriered with appropriate contact and instruction details.

If you are able to safely remove the bent valve from the cylinder head, please supply it to Woods Engineering as a sample. Patrick can attempt to straighten the valve to obtain the correct dimensions.

Please do not attempt to straighten the valve yourself unless you are very confident in doing so.
